The 2020 vintage was exceptional, and it could be considered one of the best for Katarzyna Estate. It inspired our winemakers, Svilen and Ivan Kisyovi, to create the Single Barrel project – an extremely limited edition series, aimed at building upon everything we've done so far and creating something truly special. We selected four red varieties and vinified only one single barrel of each, with a capacity of 225 liters, bottling only 150 magnum bottles. We carefully selected the best grapes from the finest parcels, with fermentation taking place in new French oak barrels, followed by 10 months of aging. The four red varieties were chosen to best express the terroir and its character. Of course, we chose Merlot as one of the varieties, as it is typical for our region, while the others are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah.
„ The Single Barrel Merlot “ is characterized by an intense color with a red-violet hue. It has a concentrated aroma of ripe forest fruits, combined with hints of vanilla, coffee, and spices. The taste is balanced and elegant, with the flavor profile perfectly complementing the nose of the wine. The finish is long-lasting and smooth.
The wine is combined very well with cheeses, beef dishes, or pasta.
