The location of our estate is no coincidence. Right here, at the foot of the Eastern Rhodope Mountains, sources dating back more than 5,000 years prove that the Thracians, Romans, and Bulgarians who lived on these lands were engaged in viticulture and winemaking. It is a great honor for us to continue this ancient tradition.

Today, our wine tells a story, and every opened bottle, no matter where in the world you are, will transport you back to this heavenly place.

OUR STORY

Katarzyna Estate is a dream come true, marking the beginning of a new story. It all began in 2003 when Krzysztof Trylinski, during a walk near the village of Mezek, stumbled upon a piece of untouched land and fell in love with it at first sight. Inspired by this moment, he decided to fulfill one of his greatest dreams: to build a winery in the style of a classic French château. After conducting research into the soil composition, climate, altitude, and terrain, it became clear that the region offered exceptional conditions for growing grapes. Over the next three years, the first vineyards were planted, laying the foundation for what would become Katarzyna Estate.

Since the very first harvest in 2006, the philosophy of the winery has been that success begins in the vineyard. Exceptional wines are made possible through dedicated vineyard care and, of course, the passion of the team. With each passing vintage, we strive to express the uniqueness of the terroir and to craft wines that embody elegance, sophistication, and a harmonious balance between fruit, acidity, oak, and tannins — wines that stand out with their distinctive character.

It is interesting to note that the winery is located on the same geographical latitude as some of the most renowned wine regions in the world. The estate was established in a former border zone that once separated Bulgaria and Greece, in the southeastern part of the country, in pristine nature preserved from human activity for decades. We cultivate 7500 decares of our own vineyards and strive to fully benefit from the richness of the terroir.

Winemaking is a passion a calling and an act of love but it is also a year-round commitment involving many intricate processes. Each harvest presents us with new challenges that our head technologists Svilen and Ivan Kisyovi together with the team must overcome. Discover Our World

Katarzyna Estate is located in the southernmost part of Bulgaria. The area is exceptionally favorable for vine growing and lies at the same geographical latitude as some of the most famous wine regions in Europe. The winery is positioned 2 km from the Greek border, at the foot of the Eastern Rhodopes. The landscape is hilly, very picturesque, and still wonderfully wild. The interesting architecture divides the building into three levels, allowing for gravity-driven transport of the grapes and wine from one level to the next. The gravitational principle includes several sorting lines and manual grape sorting before entering the fermenters, ensuring that only the highest quality berries are used for processing. The winery is equipped with the highest level of technological equipment needed for modern winemaking
