The 2020 vintage was exceptional, it could even be defined as one of the best for Katarzyna Estate. It inspired our winemakers, Svilen and Ivan Kisyovi, to create the Single Barrel – project an extremely limited series with which we aimed to build upon everything so far and create something truly special. We selected four red grape varieties, from which we vinified only one single barrel of 225 liters each, and bottled only 150 magnum bottles. We handpicked the best grapes from the best plots, with fermentation carried out in new French oak barrels, followed by 10 months of aging. We chose four red varieties, selected in a way that best expresses the terroir and its character — Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah.
„Single Barrel Cabernet Franc“ is characterized by an intense red color with a violet hue. It offers a ripe aroma of red and black fruits and spices, intertwined with notes of leather and chocolate from the fine French oak. The taste of the wine is delicate and elegant, and the flavor profile fully lives up to the expectations set by the aroma. The finish is long and memorable a true mark of the wine’s class.
The wine is combined very well with spicy dishes, game meats, or cured meats.
